The must-do for toddlers. Children control whether Dumbo goes up or down — a detail that fills them with extraordinary pride. No minimum height requirement, very gentle movement, and the queue is manageable if you arrive in the first hour of opening. The look on their face when they realise they are flying is priceless.

A slow boat ride around the world, with singing dolls representing every nation. Entirely suitable from birth, air-conditioned, and beautifully calm. It's the perfect attraction for a mid-morning or post-lunch break when the little ones need to sit down and absorb the sensory magic. Warning: the song tends to stay in your head for several days.

🚢 Peter Pan's Flight ★★★★★

One of the most popular attractions in the park, and for good reason. You fly over London at night, then Neverland — a genuinely magical experience that enchants toddlers and adults alike. The queue can be long (40+ minutes at peak times), so target first thing in the morning or during the evening parade when crowds thin out.

🎠 Le Carrousel de Lancelot ★★★★

A beautifully decorated Arthurian carousel in the heart of Fantasyland. Children can choose between a horse, a dragon or a medieval chariot. Queue times are generally short and the experience very gentle — perfect for a very first ever fairground ride. The horses move up and down, which some very young children initially find surprising, but most love within seconds.

🚂 Casey Jr — le Petit Train du Cirque ★★★

A small circus train winding its way through Storybook Land past miniature scenes from classic Disney films. The cage wagons delight younger children while open-top cars suit older siblings. The pace is slow and cheerful — an easy win when energy levels are dropping.

Beyond Fantasyland — surprises for little ones

Fantasyland will keep toddlers busy for hours, but there are a few gems elsewhere in the park worth building into your day — especially for children towards the upper end of the under-5 range.

🏴‍☠️ Pirates of the Caribbean ★★★★

A slow indoor boat ride through a world of pirates, treasure and cannon fire. It's slightly dark, with a few loud sound effects that may startle very young children — worth a quick mention beforehand ("it's like a pirate story!"). Most 3–5 year olds adore it once the initial surprise has passed. No height requirement, and the queue moves efficiently thanks to the high capacity of the boats.

An interactive ride where you shoot laser beams at targets alongside Space Ranger Buzz Lightyear. Young children may need help aiming, but the excitement of "zapping" things is utterly contagious. The movement is very gentle, making it a safe bet even for toddlers who are wary of rides.

🚗 Autopia ★★★

Little ones get to "drive" a futuristic car on a guided rail. The feeling of being in control is priceless for a 3–4 year old — expect much enthusiastic steering and horn-beeping. Requires 81cm minimum height to ride with an adult, or 137cm to ride alone.

🎭 Character Meet & Greets ★★★★★

Don't underestimate these. For many toddlers, meeting Mickey, Minnie, Elsa or Goofy in person is the highlight of the entire day — more memorable than any ride. Check the Disneyland Paris app the morning of your visit for times and locations. The queues move quickly and the characters are wonderfully patient with young children.

Practical tips for a perfect first visit

⏰ Arrive at opening time. The first two hours are significantly calmer. Peter Pan's Flight at 9am has a 10-minute queue; by noon it can be 60.
🛒 Bring your pushchair even if your child can walk. You'll be grateful for it at 2pm when everyone is exhausted and there's still half the day to go.
🥪 Pack snacks from home. In-park food is expensive and not always toddler-friendly. Familiar snacks help with meltdown prevention.
😴 Plan a nap window. Either leave the park for an hour mid-afternoon, or plan a long slow attraction (It's a Small World is perfect) to give toddlers a rest without losing momentum.
📱 Download the Disneyland Paris app. It shows live wait times, character meeting schedules and the day's entertainment programme — invaluable with a toddler to manage.
📅 Choose your day carefully. Midweek during school term time is vastly quieter than weekends and school holidays. A Wednesday in October will be a completely different experience from a Saturday in July.
📏 Check height requirements in advance. Most Fantasyland attractions have none, but others do. Knowing before you queue avoids tears at the boarding gate.
